Sync Audio/Video Playback in VLC

Tonight, I found myself making an adjustment in VLC that I’ve been using for quite some time: easy tweaking to sync up audio and video.

It’s so simple and I realized that everyone may not be aware of it. Simply put, use the “F” key during VLC playback to slow down the audio and the adjoining “G” key to speed the sync up. This can also be used with an AirPort Express & Rogue Amoeba’s excellent app, Airfoil if you’re streaming video to another computer.

Absolutely extraordinary! I’ve been trying to synch sound and vision in VLC using all kinds of preference tweaks suggested on forums (including VLC’s own), none of which work. Then I find this boneheadedly easy and effective method! Thank you very much!

Is there any way of auto-synching? I personally can cope with a bit of out of synch audio, but it drives my wife nuts. But I don’t find synching it very easy to get right, I would love a system that will detect the lip movements and auto synch
