My Custom EyeTV 2.3.1 Theme
By mr. Obsession in EyeTV
Thanks to Mac OSX Hints, I was able to address one of the most grating new features in EyeTV 2.3.1 - the blue, straight-outta-Windows-MCE theme.
The color combination was so weak compared to the previous black/grey combo that (among other reasons) I had decided to stick with a previous version.
But even though I’m a complete novice at working in Quartz Composer, I easily changed the theme to something exponentially more presentable. There’s still that annoying text on the edges that I couldn’t get rid of, but I’m happy enough that I’ve decided to go ahead and stick with 2.3.1. In particular, the ability to list recordings in chonological order was a HUGE hole in v 2.3.0 that El Gato fixed in 2.3.1. The new fall season means I’ll be wrangling a lot more programs and I look forward to this essential feature.
Just don’t forget to hold down the Menu button to access EyeTV’s FS menu. A “Quick Click” will accidentally launch and bring Front Row to the front.
In the mean time, here’s what I’m working with (note the cut-off text all along the left side of the screen):

I’ve been trying to acomplish this for quite some time. Unfortunately I don’t have QuartzComposer to even play with. Could you share the background files for others?
Out of curiousity, did you try the background files in 2.3.0 in 2.3.1 or 2.3.2?

Do you think you could post the Quartz Composer file that you made for your custom black background? I’ve played with it for a little bit but haven’t been successful in creating a Composer file that works. If you cannot post it would if be possible for you to email it to me?
Thanks so much!! -Michael

Here you go!

I did not. Interesting idea, but I imagine they’re incompatible based on the substantial UI changes introduced in 2.3.1.

So can the little arrow icons be changed? They are pretty dorky.

I don’t know the arrow file names offhand, but drill down into the EyeTV.app’s package contents and you’ll be able to locate them. I assume you could switch new images in, but haven’t tried personally.

Does not work in 2.4.1 (2824)!
Do you have the files for this version?

I’m afraid not…and El Gato is amazingly proactive at getting any older files I’ve posted in the past pulled down.
Many apologies!
